Advanced Open Water Courses in Charleston, SC
The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
For your PADI Advanced Open Water Course, you do five “Adventure Dives” designed to improve your skills and introduce you to a broad spectrum of PADI specialty courses. Any of these Adventure Dives may also be applied toward a number of PADI distinctive specialties (such as Wreck Diver, Drift Diver, Bot Diver, etc.).
Two required dives for your Advanced Open Water certification are a Deep Adventure Dive and an Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive; the remaining three dives may be chosen from more than a dozen other Adventure Dives.
Based on local dive conditions in Charleston, we recommend pursuing any of the following Adventure Dives (in addition to your Navigation and Deep dives):
- Wreck Diving
- Search and Recovery
- Boat Diving
- Fish ID
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Deep Diving
- If you plan to dive offshore Charleston, you may want to complete the advanced course, as many of our local sites are advanced sites!
One night of class (6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.) is required and classes begin once or twice a month with five dives completed locally in the summer months and in Florida in the winter. You need to read the required chapters in your PADI manual BEFORE class begins. If you chose to do eLearning, the instructor will require documentation from PADI showing that you had completed the e-learning session.
